Julian Jia

Julian Jia Zhichao ( Chinese  贾志 超 , Pinyin Jiǎ Zhìchāo ; born December 19, 1991 in Guizhou ) is a Chinese pianist .

At the age of twelve Jia became a young student at the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf with Barbara Szczepanska and later studied with Arie Vardi at the University of Music and Theater in Hanover . He has performed as a soloist and with orchestra in Europe and China. He played at the Ruhr Piano Festival , the Beethoven Festival in Bonn , the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival , the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Kissinger Sommer, among others .

He has received a number of prizes and awards, including second prize at the Franz Liszt Competition for young pianists in Weimar in 2005. In 2014 he won 1st prize at the Kissinger Piano Olympics .
