The young alternative YES! is a political group in the city and canton of Bern . Formally, it does not have organs such as the Presidium, Board of Directors or working groups, nor a permanent membership and corresponding contributions. The group has been represented on the Bern City Council since 1993 and held a seat on the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern from 2002 to 2006 . Since 2020 she has been part of the Young Green Canton of Bern as a city section.

Viewpoints

The young alternative YES! is assigned to the left-wing alternative spectrum and advocates social, feminist , ecological, anti-racist , pacifist and youth-specific issues. It sees itself as part of the international movement critical of globalization .

history

Emergence

The Junge Alternative was founded in 1992 with a view to the elections for the Bern municipal parliament (city council). The founders got to know each other through their commitment to the Group for a Switzerland without an Army (GSoA) , to street-related organizations as part of the open drug scene in Bern, or to existing parties such as the Green Alliance and the Young Socialists .

Recent development

On April 30, 2020, the YES! and the Young Green Canton of Bern (JGKB) that the YES! in future as the Stadtberner section. The YES! should, however, continue to politicize under this abbreviation, and the "open, grassroots" structure of the JA! to be continued.

Participation in elections

The Junge Alternative has been participating in the municipal parliamentary elections in the city of Bern since 1992. She received the following votes:

  • 1992: 1.30%
  • 1996: 2.43%
  • 2000: 2.58%
  • 2004: 2.60%
  • 2008: 3.20%
  • 2012: 2.06%
  • 2016: 2.96%

Furthermore, the Junge Alternative has repeatedly participated in cantonal and national elections. The votes were only enough for one seat in the cantonal elections in 2002 (see below).

Bern City Council (municipal parliament)

From 1993 to 1996 the JA! represented with one seat on the Bern City Council, from 1996 to 2012 with two seats, and since the elections on November 25, 2012 again with only one. On November 27, 2016, the voting population of the city of Bern again voted two people from JA! elected to the city parliament. The JA! represented by the following persons:
