The Green Alliance is a green party in the city ​​of Bern that was founded in 1987 . It emerged from an amalgamation of activists and parties from the 1968 movement (such as the POCH ) and the newly emerging social movements . The Green Alliance has been a member of the Swiss Green Party since 2002 .

Until 2006 there was a Green Alliance of the Canton of Bern as an independent cantonal party. In 2006 the Green Alliance and the Green Free List Canton of Bern merged to form the Green Canton of Bern . In the city of Bern, however, the two parties still form independent local groups.

The alliance forms the largest section of the Greens in the canton of Bern . The party is represented by Franziska Teuscher in the Bern municipal council , the executive branch of the city of Bern, and has nine seats in the Bern city ​​council ( legislative ; as of 2017). National Councilor Regula Rytz , President of the Swiss Green Party and National Councilor Aline Trede are also members of the Green Alliance. At the cantonal level, the Green Alliance is represented in the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern with Natalie Imboden and Hasim Sancar . Natalie Imboden is also Co-President of the Green Canton of Bern.

The guiding principles of the party are: "Solidarity now", "Ecology in concrete terms" and "Women first".
