The June Lyrids are a meteor shower that can be observed from Central Europe and was first observed in 1966.
The radian of the June Lyrids lies in the constellation Lyra , a few degrees south of the main star Vega . Usually this current has a low meteor rate of less than 5 meteors per hour, but increased rates have also been observed in the past. Most recently, in 1996, several observers independently of one another observed an increased rate.
