Ken Williams (game developer)

Ken Williams (born October 30, 1954 ) is an American programmer and game developer . He was the co-founder and long-time managing director of the game developer and publisher Sierra On-Line .

Williams founded the game software manufacturer Sierra Entertainment (formerly Sierra On-Line) in 1979 together with his wife Roberta , which operated from 1979 to 2008. In addition to serving as co-founder and CEO of Sierra Entertainment Williams was as a programmer and producer of numerous games of the company involved ( King's Quest V: Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder! , Phantasmagoria 2 , etc.), including the first graphic adventure Mystery House . In some Sierra games there are also allusions to himself and cameo appearances . In 1996 the company was sold to CUC-Software . The following year Williams left the company and retired from the game industry. In 2009, Ken and Roberta Williams were jointly listed by IGN as one of the 100 most important game developers of all time. The couple also received the Industry Icon Award for their life's work at the Game Awards 2014 in Las Vegas.

Ken and Roberta have two sons, DJ and Chris.
