Yuri Nikolajewitsch Sawitschew ( Russian Юрий Николаевич Савичев ; born February 13, 1965 in Moscow ) is a former Russian football player .

He is an eight-time national player of the USSR . In 1988 he and his team won the gold medal (silver: Brazil , bronze: Germany ) in football at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, and in extra time in the final he scored the decisive goal for the 2-1 victory of the USSR.

Career

Sawitschew moved from Greece to the former Bundesliga club 1. FC Saarbrücken in 1992 . Here he completed all league games in the 1992/93 season and scored eight goals. After relegation, he stayed in the second division for a year. He scored twelve goals in 35 league games. In the 1994/95 season he moved to FC St. Pauli , which was also playing in the second division at the time. With the club, he promptly rose to the Bundesliga. As early as in the second Bundesliga year, his susceptibility to injury was noticeable, so that he could only play three games. After the relegation of FC St. Pauli to the Second Bundesliga, Sawitschew recovered and was able to play in 25 games in the 1997/98 season, scoring eight goals. A year later, his bad luck with injuries caught up with him again. He only played nine games for FC St. Pauli and was disabled in sports in 2000 . The cause should be calcium secretions in the hip area.
