Yuri Serheev

Jurij Anatolijowytsch Serhejew ( Ukrainian Юрій Анатолійович Сергеєв ; born February 5, 1956 in Leninakan ) is a Ukrainian diplomat .

Life

Sergejew studied at the National Taras Shevchenko University of Kiev and received his doctorate there in 1981. From 1981 to 1992 he was among other things assistant, later lecturer, at the philological faculty of the university.

Sergeev then worked for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. From 1992 to 1997 he held director positions there in various departments. After serving as Envoy Counselor at the Ukrainian Embassy in the United Kingdom from January to November 1997 , he held the post of Ambassador to Greece from November 1997 to December 2000 . At the same time he was the non-resident ambassador for Albania . From February 2001 to July 2001 Sergeev was Deputy Foreign Minister. From July 2001 to March 2003 he was State Secretary in the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. From March 2003 to April 2007 he was Ambassador to France and Permanent Representative of Ukraine to UNESCO . From 2007 to December 2015, he was the permanent representative of his country to the United Nations . He has also been the Ukrainian non-resident ambassador to the Bahamas since 2008 .

Sergeyev is married.
