Justin (Moesien)
Justin ( Greek Ἰουστίνος Iustinos ; † 528 ) was a general of the Eastern Roman Empire , who served under the rule of Justinian I (reign 527-565) as commander of the Danube Limes in Moesia Secunda .
Life
Justin is mentioned in 528 as " Stratelates of Moesia ". He probably held the title of Dux Moesiae Secundae and was of the rank of magister militum . He brought his troops together with those of Baduarius , Dux of Scythia Minor , to repel a group of foreign invaders whom John Malalas calls " Huns ", while Theophanes calls them Bulgarians . Justin was killed in the battle. Constantiolus followed him in his office .
