The Haqqānīya Palace or Palace of Justice ( Arabic سراي الحقانية, DMG Sarāy al-Ḥaqqānīya , English El-Hakaneia Palace ) is a building erected at the end of the 19th century on Manschiya Square in Alexandria , Egypt .

history

During the reign of the Khedive Ismail Pasha (1863–1879), several foreigners came to Alexandria at his invitation and contributed to the city's architecture. The palace was built between 1884 and 1887 as a judicial building based on a design by the Italian architect Alfonso Maniscalco (* 1853 in Naples). The imposing building ("imposing seat of the mixed tribunals") was designed in the Beaux Arts tradition. The building is still used today as a judicial building.
