Jutta Beder

Jutta Beder (born June 16, 1948 in Langenberg / Rhld ) is a German art historian and professor emeritus for the art and cultural history of textiles and clothing at the University of Paderborn .

education

Jutta Beder studied art history, archeology, Italian and East Asian art history from 1969 to 1975 at the Friedrich-Wilhelmsuniversität Bonn and the University of Cologne . In 1975 she did her doctorate with Professors Bandmann and Trier in Bonn. From 1976 to 1978 she headed the arts and crafts department at the Kunsthaus am Museum in Cologne, before taking on teaching positions in the seminar for fine arts and her didactics / textile design department at the educational science faculty of the University of Cologne from 1979 to 1985. She then worked as a research assistant until she accepted a position at the University of Paderborn in 1991. From 1991 until her retirement in 2013, she represented the chair for the art and cultural history of textiles and clothing at the Institute of Art / Music / Textiles.

Research priorities

Jutta Beder's research and teaching focuses on the European art and cultural history of textiles and clothing. Thematic research projects on fashion and textile design of the 19th and 20th centuries as well as bibliographic and media archiving for basic research on fashion, textiles and design were published in books, articles and on the Internet.
