The residential buildings Käthe-Kollwitz-Ufer 21/22 in Dresden district Johannstadt form a contiguous, marked by "[k] ubische [r] plasticity" housing. With a “strong, contemporary design that is not inferior to its self-confident older neighbors”, the building is an example of the modern residential architecture of Dresden's inner city at the turn of the millennium.

description

The building was erected in 1974 and closes the gap between two historical buildings from the turn of the century on Käthe-Kollwitz-Ufer . In 2000 the building was renovated and converted by the architects Höhne + Langenbrunner. The client was Wohnbau Nordwest .

On the street side, the upper floors were given cubic extensions, which are considered a “modern interpretation of the neighboring Wilhelminian style oriels”. In the front and extensions there are lifts, rubbish bins or lounges with large windows that allow a view of the Elbe.

The balconies that were once located at the back of the house have been replaced by a new type of construction.
