Cologne design award

The Cologne Design Prize has been awarded annually since 2007 for outstanding theses among the national and international art, film and design universities. In 2015, it was the highest endowed award of its kind at USD 18,000.

Modalities

The participants are nominated by the respective university. Participating universities can submit up to 20% of their most innovative theses.

The topics for the submitted work can be chosen freely and come from all areas of design. All works will be presented as part of an exhibition at the Museum of Applied Art in Cologne . These are assessed and evaluated by an independent jury made up of members from the design industry.

financing

Until 2015, the competition was organized by Prof. Dr. Ing.Richard G. Winkler Foundation financed. In 2016, the participating universities themselves provided funding for the first time. The prize money of 5,000 euros was significantly lower than in previous years.
