König Tabakwarenhandel is a German wholesale and retail company for luxury goods , in particular tobacco products , as well as spirits and other products. It is one of the largest in the industry in Germany (2006: fourth place).

In 2006 the company, which is based in Geisenfeld in Upper Bavaria (district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm), achieved sales of 100 million euros, which fell to 40 million by 2008. It had around 22,000 cigarette machines in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Saxony. The company is currently run by the third generation of Bernhard König. The founder was Heinz König, and Hans-Rainer König ran the company until 2009.

In February 2009, a leasing creditor filed for insolvency proceedings . Operations continued during the bankruptcy proceedings. The reason given for the economic problems was that the tightening of youth protection regulations for tobacco products in 2007 required high investments to retrofit the dispensing machines with debit card readers .

At the beginning of June 2009, the creditors' meeting approved the sale of the company to a newly founded GmbH under the leadership of Bernhard König, son of the previous owner. After the sale, 57 of the previous 103 jobs will be retained. The number of cigarette machines decreased to 6,000.
