When the Kingdom of Italy are historically:

  • Imperial Italy (872–18th century), the kingdom in Upper Italy that emerged from the Franconian Empire, incorporated into the Holy Roman Empire in 951
  • Kingdom of Italy (1805–1814) , the smaller kingdom in northeast Italy that emerged in 1805 from the Cisalpine Republic of Napoleon
  • Kingdom of Italy (1861–1946) , emerged from the Kingdom of Sardinia in 1861, forerunner of today's Republic of Italy
