Köprülü Kanyon is a canyon and national park in the province of Antalya in southern Turkey . The park was established in 1973 and is 366 km² in size. Half of it is located in the Serik and Manavgat districts , around 90 km northeast of Antalya . It can be reached by turning north from the coastal road about 5 km east of Aspendos towards Beşkonak.
The canyon is up to 400 m deep and stretches for 14 km between the villages of Bolasan and Beşkonak along the Köprüçay River . His name ( Koprulu same Turkish for "bridge") the Canyon owes a Roman stone arch bridge, the Eurymedon Bridge (Turkish Oluk Köprü ) near the ancient city of Selge , which also lies within the national park. Another bridge from Roman times is located southwest of the Eurymedon Bridge. The Bügrüm Köprü spans the river Kocadere (Turkish for huge brook ).
Deer live in the area with its rich population of Mediterranean cypresses , pines and oaks , but there are also said to be brown bears and wolves .
Turkey's largest rafting center is located on the middle reaches of the Köprüçay . River trips in canoes, kayaks or rubber rafts are offered.
