The Kümpelpresse is a listed press in the Technikmuseum Magdeburg .

The system stood on the site of the former heavy machinery construction combine Karl Liebknecht , the former machine factory Rudolf Wolf in the Salbke district of Magdeburg . It was built around 1910 by the Kalker Werkzeugmaschinen-Fabrik Köln-Kalk and was used for dishing , i.e. for shaping boiler bottoms for locomotives . The dishing press has a steam hydraulic drive. The steam was driven by a single-cylinder, long-stroke press pump .

The dishing press has been out of operation for a long time and stood outdoors after the originally surrounding buildings were removed. At the end of 2010 / beginning of 2011, the plant including its underground components was dismantled. The individual parts were stored in the technology museum. It is planned to refurbish the system and rebuild it on the museum grounds. A limited functionality should also be restored with compressed air.
