The Technikmuseum Magdeburg is one of nine museums in Magdeburg . The collection is presented in the former steel construction hall of the heavy engineering combine "Ernst Thälmann" (the former Gruson factory ), Dodendorfer Strasse 65 in Magdeburg's Leipziger Strasse district .

history

From 2006 onwards, the museum was operated on a voluntary basis by the association “Kuratorium Industriekultur in der Region Magdeburg eV” in order to keep the museum from being closed and to revive it. As the Board of Trustees wanted to retire for reasons of age, the museum returned to the city on June 1, 2019. Since then, the Board of Trustees has been a support association that wants to support the Museum of Technology through donations, advertising and voluntary work. The museum will be modernized in the coming years.

In the museum, founded in 1993, you will find mainly tools , machines , systems, means of transport and products on 2000 m² of exhibition space . One of the special exhibits is a replica of the aircraft with which the aviation pioneer Hans Grade undertook the first German powered flight on the Cracauer Anger in 1908 . A replica of the Magdeburg pilot rocket from 1933 can also be seen. There were 25 special exhibitions by 2018.
