The Künstlerhaus Dortmund is an exhibition and studio building in Dortmund that has existed since 1983 .

The house is run in self-organization with the support of the city of Dortmund and serves as an exhibition space for contemporary and experimental art. The Künstlerhaus serves as a stage for various art movements from painting, sculpture, graphics, photography, film, video, room installations to new media. The Künstlerhaus Dortmund aims to promote young, not yet established artists from home and abroad.

The studio community is housed in a building erected in 1924 as a wash house for the Westphalia colliery in Dortmund's northern part of the city, not far from Dortmund's main train station . The building later served as the administrative headquarters of Westfälische Wohnstätten AG and Deutsche Edelstahlwerke . After it was used by the design department of the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences , it was occupied by students and managed by itself. In 1987 the Künstlerhaus was renovated and officially recognized with funds from the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
