The family Küpfer is originally from the Emmental originating Berner Burger family, which since about 1550 the Burger rights owned by the city of Bern and today the guild to Webern heard.

The regimental family Küpfer goes back to the fisherman Johannes Küpfer († 1568). The widely ramified sex was active in a wide variety of professions and therefore had a good reputation for shipmen , shoemakers and weavers .

Four members of the family joined the Grand Council in the 16th and 17th centuries, numerous representatives were clergy and officers. Several generations were dyers. Jerome Küpfer is reasonable Indienne -Fabrikation in Bern. Johann Friedrich and Johann Rudolf Küpfer were involved in the Henzi conspiracy .
