K. Lee Scott

K. Lee Scott (* 1950 in Valley (Alabama) ) is an internationally known teacher, musician, conductor and composer of sacred music, choral music and hymns. He lives in Birmingham, Alabama .

biography

Scott studied choral music and composition at the University of Alabama School of Music and earned a bachelor's and master's degree in choral music. His teachers include Frederick Prentice, Paul Hedwall and Gail Kubik. He serves on the music faculty of the University of Alabama and the Samford University School of Music. He is a frequent guest conductor in the United States, Canada, and Africa.

Works

K. Lee Scott is widely recognized as one of the most important American church music composers for the past 20 years. He has published over 300 works in several publishers. His works include hymns, choir pieces, pieces for solo voices, organ and brass. A number of his hymns are published in eight hymn books of various denominations. He also wrote some major works such as Christmas Cantata and Te Deum . Two volumes of three-part (SAB) choral movements are widely used under the name Coram Deo I + II . Works by Scott are now also performed in Europe and Germany. Many of his works have sheet music and recordings made by various ensembles and musicians in stores.
