KAOS gallery

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The KAOS gallery was one of the most important independent art initiatives in Cologne from spring 1985 to the end of 1997 and was funded by the cultural office. The exhibiting artists were given by KAOS film and video team Cologne GmbH the chance to present their projects cinematically document or to have their ideas - supported by professionals from the team - put themselves in the form of artistic videos for the first time. If they so wished, the KAOS team also produced documentary portraits for the artists. This resulted in more than 80 art and artist videos - mostly by people from Cologne, but also by artists from Switzerland , Belgium , France and the USA , some of which were produced for the independent Kanal 4 . Some of the artists now also work as film and video makers. Marianne Tralau was the director of the artist gallery.

The art videos went to the KAOS art and video archive in 2002 .
