The Kuratorium für Technik und Bauwesen in der Landwirtschaft eV (KTBL) is a registered association to which around 400 people from agriculture , science, commercial economy, administration and consulting belong. The purpose of the KTBL is technology transfer .
The KTBL is institutionally funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture .
The KTBL oversees nine main areas of work, each with a working group made up of eight to twelve volunteer specialists. The working groups oversee a total of around 50 working groups on special topics, in which volunteer experts are also active.
aims
The aim of the association is to promote consumer-oriented, socially acceptable and environmentally friendly land management, species-appropriate and environmentally friendly animal husbandry and the promotion of rural areas .
tasks
The core task of the KTBL is knowledge transfer . The KTBL collects data and facts for the calculation and evaluation of land management, livestock husbandry and energy management issues. It prepares, prepares and publishes contributions to the development of rural areas. It is also involved in the creation of regulations and describes the state of the art.
The work results of the KTBL are online applications, books, events and statements. The products are aimed at advice, science, research and development in federal states and industry as well as training and advice in agriculture, horticulture and viticulture . They also address representatives from ministries and authorities as well as actors from the upstream and downstream areas of agriculture.
Structure and way of working
In addition to the members of the KTBL, around 200 other experts are involved on a voluntary basis. They contribute their specialist knowledge to around 50 committees and thus ensure the quality of the work results. Around 70 academic employees of the KTBL office work together with the committees on the topics.
Focus of work
The KTBL has the following main focuses:
- Labor and business administration
- Emissions and climate protection
- energy
- horticulture
- Farm animal husbandry
- Organic farming
- Plant production including viticulture
- Site development and pollution control
- Knowledge technologies
Working groups and working groups formulate the main focuses of the KTBL. This creates a thematic network that enables actors from science, consulting and practice to exchange ideas and link information. This serves to promote technical progress.
Honourings and prices
Tilo Freiherr von Wilmowsky Medal
The KTBL has been awarding this medal since 1978. It is named after the President of the Reich Board of Trustees for Technology in Agriculture (RKTL) Tilo von Wilmowsky (1878–1966). With the Tilo Freiherr von Wilmowsky Medal, the KTBL honors personalities who have made a special contribution to agricultural engineering and to people working in agricultural engineering.
Anton Schlueter Medal
With this medal from foundation funds, the KTBL honors outstanding scientific achievements in the field of agricultural engineering. The foundation comes from the entrepreneur Dipl.-Ing. Dr. hc Anton Schlüter (1915–1999), who felt closely connected to the KTBL.
Landtechnik magazine
As co-editor of the scientific journal “LANDTECHNIK - Agricultural Engineering”, the KTBL has been publishing agricultural technical results from applied research since 1946. LANDTECHNIK is peer-reviewed and appears in German and English. The journal has been freely available to anyone interested in the Internet via Open Access since 2014 . The journal supports scientists and young professionals from research institutes, industry and agricultural engineering companies in publishing their results. This is done with the aim of further developing the interdisciplinary exchange of new findings in agricultural engineering.
history
The KTBL emerged from the merger of the “Board of Trustees for Technology in Agriculture” (KTL) and the “Working Group for the Promotion of Agricultural Construction” (ALB) on January 1, 1969. Predecessor organizations at the beginning of the twenties of the 20th century were the “Reich Committee for Technology in Agriculture” and the “Reich Research Society for Economic Efficiency in Building and Housing” (RFG). This was followed by the "Reich Board of Trustees for Technology in Agriculture" (RKTL) and the "Working Group for Agricultural Construction".
