The road transport mbH Braunschweig (CCG) , established in Salzgitter operates much of the public transport in the districts Wolfenbüttel and Helmstedt and in Salzgitter and Bad Harzburg . The 5 depots of the KVG are located in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt, Salzgitter-Bad, Wolfenbüttel, Bad Harzburg (oldest depot) and Helmstedt.
history
On December 20, 1909, the Büssing-Kraftwagen-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH , a subsidiary of the Büssing Group, which had become famous for its buses, was founded in Braunschweig . This was the cornerstone for the planned development of the Braunschweiger Land and the Harz region. Among other things, the company set up several bus routes around Bad Harzburg in the next few years, where what is now the oldest depot was built. The company's successful upswing was interrupted by the outbreak of the First World War in 1914. On November 22, 1919, the entire Büssing-Kraftwagen-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH was incorporated into the new, state-run, municipal Kraftverkehrsgesellschaft mbH Braunschweig (KVG).
Special lines
CityBus Bad Harzburg
From March 9, 1999, the KVG operated a CityBus (line 878) in Bad Harzburg. This was operated with minibuses and mainly connected the various health clinics with the pedestrian zone in Bad Harzburg, with the CityBus going right through the pedestrian zone. It was free for spa card holders and was discontinued on June 25, 2009 due to excessive costs.
Forest lines Bad Harzburg
The KVG operates 2 bus routes in the Bad Harzburg / Harz area, which travel across the forest to tourist destinations. Specifically, these are line 875 ( national park line ) to Molkenhaus, Rabenklippe and Eckertalsperre and line 866 to the Kästeklippen. Both are pure summer lines, and line 866 does not run on Mondays. An environmentally friendly bus with an EEV engine ( Grüner Harzer ) is used on line 875 .
Ski bus
For many years the KVG operated a so-called “ski bus line” Bad Harzburg - Torfhaus in winter . As the number of passengers declined in recent years due to the milder winters, it was no longer possible to cover costs and the ski bus line was discontinued.
