KW-2 and KW-5 in size comparison (models)
The KW-5 (also: Object 225 ) was a Soviet project for a super heavy tank weighing 100 tons from the KW series . Development began in Leningrad in April 1941 , as Josef Stalin pushed for the 107mm cannon and this required a larger tank. When the Kirov factory was evacuated on August 15, 1941, the work was stopped. There were also considerable doubts about the project, as the Soviet railroad could only carry vehicles with a maximum weight of 55 tons and there was little experience with engines of this power class.
The drive had 8 rollers and 4 support rollers on each side.
