KWrite is a text editor developed by KDE and published as part of Software Compilation . Since the K Desktop Environment 2 it has been based on the KatePart text editor . It is intended as a programming editor and can be used together for the colored display of source texts from various programming languages such as Perl , C ++ , Java and HTML ( syntax highlighting ).

Kate is available for the simultaneous editing of several files, project management and further functions .
