The K is the world's largest trade fair of plastic - and rubber -Industrie. The K has been organized by Messe Düsseldorf since 1952 , currently every 3 years.

history

In 1952, companies and trade associations decided, together with the Northwest German Exhibition Company (NOWEA), today's Messe Düsseldorf GmbH , to launch an event that was supposed to demonstrate the performance and versatility of polymer materials. In the same year the first K took place with 270 exhibitors from the Federal Republic of Germany and 165,000 visitors.

In the first few years, the K was a showcase for German industry and presented consumer goods from plastics processors, such as "washable toiletry bags" or "ultra-delicate nylon stockings". In the course of the increasing specialization of the plastics industry, the K turned into an international trade fair for experts from the plastics and rubber industry.

In the 60-year history of K, the proportion of international visitors rose from 24 percent (1972) to 71 percent (2016). On the exhibitor side, 61 nations were represented in 2016.
