The cabaret Leipziger Brettl is a political-satirical cabaret in Leipzig .

history

It was founded in 1979 as the cabaret "Lindenauer Brettl" by Steffen Lutz Matkowitz . He is still the artistic director of the cabaret today. In 1983, cabaret was banned and closed. Since 1986 it has been under Matkowitz as a director with guest performances and lecture tours in West Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark. From 1986 until the fall of the Wall, Steffen Lutz Matkowitz was banned from entering the German Democratic Republic . Since 1995 there has been regular play again with around 100 performances per year in Leipzig and is one of the most prominent political-satirical solo cabarets in Saxony. Guest performances have led and lead again through Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Maintaining the literary heritage of Leipzig writer Lene Voigt (1891–1962) is an integral part of the cabaret's program concept. In the area of ​​special programs such as "Hammer und Sichel", the historical outline on the floor of the political-satirical cabaret reminds of the last dictatorship. The program "Hammer und Sichel" achieved an unusually high number of performances of almost 600 performances. Since the founding of the cabaret, the artistic director Steffen Lutz Matkowitz (the longest-serving Leipzig cabaret original) has directed and wrote most of the texts.
