Kaboom!

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kaboom! is a computer game originally developed for the Atari 2600 game console by programmer Larry Kaplan and published by Activision in 1981. The game was also released for the Atari 5200 and the 8-bit Atari computers. Eventually a version for the Super Nintendo was also written, but never finalized and released. In the late 1990s another version in the form of a key fob was brought onto the market by the company Tiger Electronics .

Game idea

Kaboom! was played with a paddle controller, with which the player controls a basket that serves to catch falling bombs of the "Mad Bomber" before they explode. The player receives points for every bomb that is caught. The player receives an additional replacement basket for every 1000 points achieved. He'll lose a basket if he doesn't catch a bomb. The bombs fall in the course of the game with an ever increasing speed.
