Bald equipment

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The bald finish is a textile finishing for worsted fabrics .

With the bald finishing, the worsted yarn fabric is only moderately matted with only moderate fulling. The protruding fiber ends are largely removed by shearing, so that the weave is clearly recognizable and every single thread can be seen.

The finish gives a soft, supple and robust feel, but the fabric does not appear limp. However, this can be strongly influenced by the type of weave or the choice of yarn.

Since the fabrics tend to shine, they should only be ironed carefully under a damp cloth.

Contrasting textile finishes are Foulé and Melton .
