Kahlenstein
The Kahlenstein is a mass limestone rock on the Swabian Alb northeast of Bad Überkingen . It forms the edge between the eastern slope of the Fils valley and the Alb plateau. From the 675 m above sea level. NN high Kahlenstein there is a view of the upper Filstal . The 25 m high rock is used for climbing . It is protected as a natural monument and also as a geotope under the name Kahlenstein with cave .
The 150-meter-long Kahlenstein Cave is named after the Kahlenstein . It is the largest of around 50 small caves around the Kahlenstein. The entrance is at 660 m above sea level. NN . On June 12, 1892, it was opened as a show cave . Since 1972 the cave entrance has been closed with a grille to protect it from further destruction. At the foot of the rocks there is another cave, the Kahlenloch, around 17 meters long.
