Kaigas Ice Age

The Kaigas Ice Age was a very early, but so far scientifically little confirmed ice age in the geological age of the cryogenium . The Kaigas formation in Namibia gave its name to this ice age . It is considered to be the oldest of the great glaciations in the era of the Neoproterozoic . Information about the temporal situation, which is assumed to be between 780 and 735 million years ago, as well as the extent of this ice age are subject to a great deal of uncertainty. References to this Ice Age were found in Ice Age deposits from Namibia, Brazil and China , but not in numerous other sites of Ice Age deposits from the Neoproterozoic. It is therefore believed that the Kaigas Ice Age, unlike the Sturtic and Marino Ice Age, was not global.
