The Imperial Palace Massaua is a ruin on the northern tip of Taulud Island in Massaua .

The core of the complex dates back to Ottoman times and was built by Özdemir Pascha in the 16th century. The current building dates from 1875/76 and was built by Munzinger Pascha and received its current appearance under the Italian colonial rule . The last user was Emperor Haile Selassie . The gate is still adorned with its heraldic lions.

The palace was badly damaged in the Eritrean War of Independence (1962–1991) and is now in ruins. This was left as it was, as a symbol of Eritrea's victory over Ethiopia . It serves as a backdrop for the annual victory celebrations in Massaua.
