The KK Kakuzuke Tōshi Jōhō Center ( Japanese 株式会社 格 付 投資 情報 セ ン タ ー , Kabushiki kaisha Kakuzuke Tōshi Jōhō Sentā , English Rating and Investment Information, Inc. (short: R&I )) is a Japanese rating agency based in Chūō , Tokyo .

It belongs to the Nikkei Group and has been recognized by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organization (NRSRO) since 2007 .

history

The company has its roots in an internal working group of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei) founded in 1975 . On April 1, 1998, it was founded as KK Nihon Kakuzuke Tōshi Jōhō Center ( 株式会社 日本 格 付 投資 情報 セ ン タ ー , English Japan Rating and Investment Information, Inc. ) and took its current name in 2000. Since 2007 the rating agency has been recognized as an NRSRO in the United States.
