The Kaltchev Guitar Duo is a guitar duo from Bulgaria .

Career

The married couple Ivo and Sofia Kaltchev completed their studies at the "Franz Liszt" University of Music in Weimar with Jürgen Rost . During their studies they won six first prizes in international chamber music competitions.

Numerous productions on international radio and television as well as concerts in over 20 countries followed. The duo has given several world premieres and is a frequent guest with well-known symphony orchestras. In addition, both musicians are regularly invited to master classes and as jury members at international music festivals.

Ivo and Sofia Kaltchev are artistic directors of the "Aschaffenburg Guitar Days" and initiated the "International Competition for Chamber Music with Guitar" in Aschaffenburg.

  • 1995: 1st prize in the "4th Interpretation competition for music of the 20th century "in Detmold for duo formations of all kinds.
  • 1995: 1st prize at the Nürtingen Guitar Festival competition
  • 1996: 1st prize at the “8. International Guitar Competition in Havana-Cuba ”, as well as the prize for the best interpretation of the Cuban compulsory piece.
  • 1996: 1st prize at the "5. International music competition for guitar duos ”in Bubenreuth.
  • 1997: 1st prize of the “Culture Prize of the Unna Economy” at the international music competition in Unna.
  • 1998: 1st prize at the “19th International Guitar Competition Mauro Giuliani “for duo line-ups of all kinds with guitar in Bari, Italy.
