Calyptrogen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kalyptrogen (Calyptrogen) is a zone of the apical meristems of the root apex . The cells of the root cap (kalyptra or calyptra) emerge from this zone . The calyptrogen is only present in certain plants (e.g. grasses ). Otherwise, the root cap and also the protoderm emerge from a zone of the apical meristem, which is called dermatocalyptrogen (in almost all eudicotyledons ).
