Kamalashila

Kamalashila (* approx. 740 ; † 795 ) was an Indian author and scholar of Mahayana Buddhism . He was a student of Shantarakshita and, on his advice, was invited to Tibet at the time of Thrisong Detsen .

A debate between Kamalashila and Heshang Moheyan in Samye Monastery between 792 and 794 had historical significance for Buddhism in Tibet , which was also called the Great Debate of Samye or the Council of Lhasa .

Among the most famous works of Kamalashila are three texts, all of which are entitled Bhavana-krama ( Tib . : sgom rim ; "stages of meditation").
