Cambium saver

A cambium protector is part of the safety chain that has established itself as the standard in climbing tree care to protect the cambium from abrasion and crushing.

In its classic form, it consists of thick tape material in lengths between 80 and 180 cm, at the ends there are sewn-in aluminum rings through which the climbing rope then runs. Nowadays there are further developments with rollers and adjustable lengths that make climbing much more comfortable.

Cambium savers are also used to attach a slackline .

North Americans refer to the device as a friction saver , because a cambium saver can damage trees with thin bark .
