Combat block
A combat block is understood to be a facility belonging to a fortress that is entrusted with a special task, similar to a single combat bunker , infantry , artillery or combined. Combat blocks are organizationally linked to a fortress.
In detail there were in the works of the Maginot Line :
- Artillery casemates : Equipped with guns, from nicks shot
- Artillery bunker: retractable armored turrets
- Infantry casemates : loop stalls with heavy machine guns and anti-tank guns .
- Infantry bunker: retractable machine gun turrets
- Observation bunker : equipped with observation domes
- Combined blocks : bunkers or casemates with several functions, for example artillery and observationbunkers orartillery and infantrybunkersin one.
