Martial arts badge (MdI)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The martial arts badge of the Ministry of the Interior was an award of the Ministry of the Interior (MdI) in the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was donated in 1972 in three performance levels in gold . The individual step reached was only recognizable by a small Roman numeral on the lower edge. The award was made to all members of the MdI after successfully completing the specified sporting achievements in five categories. These included:

  • shoot
  • Shot put (optionally also pull-ups or weight lifting)
  • 400-meter storm run
  • 3000 meter storm run as well
  • swim

The shape of the badge shows a green enamelled clip with the inscription: KAMPFSPORT with an embossed intermediate piece on which the flag of the police officers of the People's Police is depicted. Again stamped on this intermediate piece is a round medal, which is surrounded by a laurel-like structure. The medal is filled out by a member of the MdI with a rifle in hand, who jumps over a beamed obstacle with a moat. In the waves shown, the Roman numeral I for level I, II for level II and III for level III can be read. The shape of the badge is therefore almost identical to the "Dynamo" martial arts badge .
