The Kansas Public Radio operates a network of public radio stations of the University of Kansas . The main station is KANU from Kansas City .

history

KANU-FM went on the air on September 15, 1952 as the first station in the network. As the strongest transmitter in the network, it now transmits 100 kW in Kansas City. KPR was the first non-commercial broadcaster to broadcast in stereo; In 1961 the steroid operation was started.

program

KPR takes over as a member of the National Public Radio Program like All Things Considered since 1971, today also the Morning Edition and A Prairie Home Companion . There are also numerous in-house productions.

On its HD2 channel, KPR broadcasts a mix of the BBC and NPR programs. This program is known as KPR2.

distribution

The KPR program is broadcast via the main channel KANU and a number of converters and repeaters . Repeaters broadcast the program from Atchinson, Manhattan, Lawrence; Repeaters are located in Emporia (KANH), Chanute (KANQ) and Olsburg (KANV).
