history

A church on the Rotmonten is mentioned in the middle of the 10th century. This meant the Chapel of St. Peter, which later became the St. Peter and Paul Chapel. The old age can also be attested by the fact that on the Wednesday before Ascension, the petition to the “St. Peter Berkilchele uff dem Rotundmonten “and is mentioned in this context in several old documents. A hermit seems to have lived there for a short time, but only one document from 1305 has survived about an inclusion.

The altar was consecrated on August 18, 1640. The visitation files mention that there was a Mother of God above the door, in front of whom an eternal light burned. The portal was protected by a canopy. On the altar were the two statues of the patron, St. Peter and St. Paul . The two figures ended up in the Holy Cross Chapel in 1772. There was a small tower with two bells above the choir. One bell had cracked and was cast by the Ernst Lindau foundry in 1660, followed by the second in 1670 for the same reason.

In 1771 the Rotmonten parish agreed with Father Iso Walser that the chapel should be demolished and that the usable material should be used for the construction of the Holy Cross Church .

The chapel was dismantled in the same year.
