Capillary suction device

Kapillarsauger or Solenophagen , from the Greek σωλήν (sols) = tube channel and φαγείν (phagein) = eat, those blood-sucking insects ( hematophagy ) which specifically with a very thin mouth tool (pricking apparatus) a blood capillary puncture and no more than blood record . These include B. all mosquitoes (Culicidae) and the stabber ( Stomoxys calcitrans ).

With Solenophagie the appropriate diet is called. The English name is "capillary feeding". But “Solenophagy” is also used in English specialist literature.
