Captain shipowner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A captain shipowner is a shipping company in which the captain is wholly or partially the owner of the ship. Usually these are coasters (Kümos).

Because of the double burden as captain and shipowner in one person, some captain shipowners use the services of trusted brokers or contract shipping companies . Companies that once started out small as captain shipowners include the shipping companies Karl Schlüter and tom Wörden .
