Captaincy is the designation for an administrative unit that has existed or exists in the following regions:

  • in the former Spanish and Portuguese colonial empires; see captaincy
  • the two captains into which the Habsburg general captaincy of Slovakia was divided from 1563 to 1686; see Captaincy (Slovakia)
  • in addition, Kapitanat (Italian: Capitanato ) is an alternative name for the Italian province of Foggia , as the area was ruled by a capitano in the Middle Ages .
