Capsulotomy
The term capsulotomy is made up of capsule (from the Latin capsa for container ) and the suffix -tomie (from the Greek τέμνειν (temnein) for cut, (to) divide and τομή (tome) for cut ). The term is used in different medical specialties with different meanings:
- In ophthalmology , capsulotomy is a laser treatment method.
- In neurosurgery , capsulotomy is a surgical therapeutic procedure.
