Lists on the subject |
The hood Qatar (Engl. Hooded Qatar) is a dagger from India.
description
The hooded katar has a double-edged, wedge-shaped, strong blade. The blade usually has multiple hollow grinds, but there are also versions with a central ridge. The handle is made of metal and has two handles that are perpendicular to the blade. A metal plate (hood) is used as a guard and hand protection, which is attached in such a way that it protects the user's fingers and hand. The blade and handguard are often richly decorated. The hooded katar is a further developed version of the Qatar . It is a development stage from Qatar to Pata , in which the entire hand is protected almost to the elbow. The hooded qatar is used by warrior castes in India.
Media reception
In the television series "Forged in Fire", Tournament, Round 2 (Indian Hooded Qatar) (2018), the participants were given the task of forging a hooded katar. The prize money was $ 50,000.
