The Karamojong or Karimojong are a semi-nomadic pastoral people in the arid northeast of Uganda in the Karamoja sub-region. They speak Ngakaramojong , an East Nilotic language . Many of them are followers of the traditional belief.

Cattle play a major role in the Karamojong. There are serious disputes with neighboring Iteso , Kumam and Kakwa in Uganda, as well as with the Turkana in Kenya , because of cattle theft, often entire herds and conflicts over water points. People also die in the process, especially because many Karamojong are in possession of AK-47s .
