Karachi Metrobus

Karachi Metrobus is a Bus Rapid Transit System (BRT) under construction in Karachi , Pakistan , which, when completed, will be 112.9 kilometers long. The expected daily passenger volume is to be 350,000 people in the future, the inauguration took place in February 2016, the completion of the first section in February 2017. The then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced that the Karachi Metrobus could solve the problem of traffic congestion and offer the people of Karachi one area-wide bus transport.

Bus routes

Green line

The green line runs from Merewether Tower - Surjani Town with a total length of 26 kilometers and is financed by the Pakistani government. Construction of the Green Line began on February 26, 2016. After completion, the Green Line will serve 26 bus stations. Various companies are involved in the construction such as B. Ernst & Young The government is also investing in the construction of a control center.

In October 2016 the CDWP approved the cost of Rs. 26 million. Ecnec approved the cost of Rs. 16.1 million. The length of the route was extended by Nawaz Sharif after criticism from the Sindh provincial government .

Orange line

Construction on the orange line began on June 11, 2016. At 3.9 kilometers, it is the shortest line and only serves four stops, some of which are underground. The orange line is to be built in stages and should originally be completed by 2017. However, this was postponed until May 2018. The orange line is designed for 50,000 passengers. The cost of the line is Rs. 2 million and is borne by the Sindh government.

Blue line

The Blue Line is 30 kilometers long and is Pakistan's first bus route to be privately financed. Construction began in early 2017.

Yellow line

The yellow line is 26.5 kilometers long and costs Rs. 14.4 million. It is intended to be served by 104 buses. The World Bank committed technical and financial support in October 2017.

Red line

Construction of the red line has been approved and costs Rs. 30 million. The financing of the red line is provided by the Asian Development Bank . The construction of the Blue Line is scheduled for December 2018.
