Cardinal King Art Prize

The Kardinal-König-Kunstpreis was established in 2005 in memory of Franz Cardinal König thanks to an initiative of Archbishop Alois Kothgasser , on behalf of the Archdiocese of Salzburg .

The competition award is announced every two years and is endowed with 11,000 euros. The award is given to a work that is intended to represent “an important position for contemporary, artistic and social discourse”, as the call for proposals states.

The prize winner and the nominated artists will be exhibited in the St. Virgil art space . In addition, the catalog series K for art is published on nominees and award winners .
