Karen Ackoff

Karen B. Ackoff is an American professor of new media at Indiana University South Bend (Indiana) , USA and developer of the Russell Oblique font .

biography

education

Ackoff began her education at the Philadelphia College of Art , where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in illustration in 1977 . In 1985 she received her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in medical illustration from the Rochester Institute of Technology .

Employment

From 1987 to 1997 Ackoff worked as a scientific illustrator at the Smithsonian Institution , Washington, DC , USA. During this time she designed the font Russell Oblique in 1994, a display font with echoes of Renaissance cursive fonts, which is named after her father, the organizational theorist Russell Ackoff .
